Learn how to use the Pages Report in LinkStorm to optimize internal links, reduce click depth, and improve SEO.

Updated this week

The Pages Report in LinkStorm is essential for identifying link optimization opportunities. This guide will explain everything you need to know, including its features, benefits, and best practices.

What Is the Pages Report?

The Pages Report provides detailed insights into each page on your website. It displays a wealth of data to help you understand how your pages contribute to your site’s overall linking structure and SEO performance.

The report is designed to:

  • Highlight pages that need more internal links.

  • Identify pages with surplus outbound links.

  • Provide key metrics to prioritize your internal linking efforts.

Data in the Pages Report

Each row in the Pages Report represents a specific page and includes the following metrics:

  • Page Title/URL
The title and URL of the page.

  • Canonical
Indicates whether the page is canonical (Yes/No). A canonical page is the preferred version among duplicate pages.

  • Indexable
Shows if the page is indexable (Yes/No). A page is considered indexable if it does not have a 'noindex' directive.

  • Excluded
Indicates whether the page is excluded (Yes/No). A page is excluded if it is either non-canonical, not indexable, or part of a list of excluded paths like /category or /tag. Excluded pages are omitted from the link opportunities computation. LinkStorm won’t suggest links to or from these pages.

  • Depth
Indicates how many clicks are needed to reach the page from your homepage. Lowering click depth improves accessibility for both users and search engines.

  • Words
The number of words in the page's main content, excluding boilerplate content such as headers and footers. Pages with higher word counts are better candidates for internal linking.

  • Links In
Shows the number of internal links pointing to the page. Pages with fewer incoming links may benefit from additional linking.

  • Links Out
The total number of links (both internal and external) from the page. This metric helps you evaluate how link equity is being distributed.

  • Semantic Opp. In
The number of internal link opportunities pointing to the page based on semantic relevance.

  • Semantic Opp. Out
The number of opportunities to link from the page to others.

Google Search Console (GSC) Data (Optional)

If your project is linked to GSC, you’ll also see your site's performance over the last three months:

  • Impressions: The number of times the page appeared in Google search results.

  • Clicks: Total clicks received from search results.

  • CTR: Click-through rate, representing user engagement.

  • Position: Average search ranking position.

The Column Settings allow you to customize the data presented in the report by enabling or disabling the visibility of each column.

2. Reduce Click Depth

4. Optimize High-Impact Pages

Filter pages by GSC data to focus on high-impression pages that could benefit from more links. For instance, a page with strong impressions but low CTR might need better-optimized links or anchor texts.

5. Remove Wasteful Links

Sort the Pages Report by the Links Out column from high to low to identify pages with excessive outbound links. Clicking on the number will display all these links, allowing you to review and determine if some links can be removed or consolidated.
Reducing unnecessary outbound links helps retain link equity and improves the focus of your linking strategy.
