Getting started with LinkStorm: Your guide to internal linking success.

Updated over 2 weeks ago

Welcome to LinkStorm! Follow these simple steps to get started and unlock the full potential of your internal linking strategy.

1. Create a Project and Add Your Website

Begin by creating a new project and adding your website's URL.

Tip: LinkStorm organizes your work into projects. Each project can contain multiple websites, and you can set up as many projects as you need to keep your work organized. Learn more about organizing projects and websites.

Once you add your website, LinkStorm will initiate a crawl to gather and analyze your content, including all available pages and linking structures. It also analyzes the pages from your XML sitemaps. Depending on the website’s size, this process can take from a few minutes to an hour.

Tip: You can navigate away from this page and work on other projects in the meantime. You’ll receive an email notification when the process is completed.

2. Install the LinkStorm Code Snippet

LinkStorm needs access to your website’s content to place internal links automatically. You can do this in two ways:

  • Option 1: Install LinkStorm Code Snippet: You can install the snippet by copy-pasting the code into your website’s header or using GTM (Google Tag Manager). Follow the steps in our How to Install LinkStorm Snippet guide for either method.

  • Option 2: Use the WordPress Plugin: If you’re on WordPress, install the LinkStorm plugin.

Installing the code snippet or the plugin will enable LinkStorm to place links from the suggestions you approve directly into your content.

3. Navigating LinkStorm’s Reports

Once LinkStorm has finished analyzing your website, you’ll have access to several reports:

  • Dashboard: The dashboard offers a quick overview of your site’s metrics and health.

  • Pages Report: This report lists all the pages on your site along with essential information for each page: depth, number of words, number of inbound and outbound links, number of inbound and outbound link opportunities.
