Understanding Credits and Quotas in LinkStorm: Manage Page Analysis & Optimize Internal Linking

Updated over a month ago

LinkStorm uses both credits and quotas to help manage the analysis of your website’s pages and ensure efficient use of resources. Understanding the differences between these two concepts will help you get the most out of your LinkStorm subscription.

1. What Are Credits?

Credits in LinkStorm represent the monthly limit for URL analysis. Credits are used to define how many new URLs can be crawled and analyzed.

  • Monthly Allocation: Each subscription plan comes with a specific number of credits allocated on a monthly basis.

  • Usage: Credits are used when new pages are added for analysis, or if you delete an existing site or project and want to replace it with a new one.

  • Automatic Refill: Credits are refilled each month, ensuring that even if you use up all your credits in one month, you’ll have a fresh supply in the next month to continue adding new URLs.

Unlike quotas, credits are not used for re-analysis of existing pages within your projects. They are solely for the analysis of new pages, allowing you to expand the reach of LinkStorm to additional content when necessary.

2. What Is a Page Quota?

Page quota represents the maximum number of unique pages that LinkStorm can analyze and manage across all projects and websites in your account.

  • Shared Limit: The quota is shared between all projects and websites within your LinkStorm account. It represents the total number of unique pages that can be analyzed and managed at any time.

  • Active Management: Once a page has been analyzed, it counts towards your pages quota.

  • Quota Limits: If you reach your pages quota, LinkStorm won’t be able to analyze additional pages until you upgrade your quota or remove some of the already analyzed pages to make space for new ones.

This shared quota means that all your projects and websites contribute to the overall limit, so you’ll need to allocate pages carefully across different projects.

Note: LinkStorm regularly scans XML sitemaps for new pages on your website. However, if your pages quota is reached, these new pages will not be added or analyzed until there is available quota.

3. Key Differences Between Credits and Quotas

Understanding how credits and quotas differ will help you better manage your internal linking strategy:

  • Scope vs. Usage:

    • Credits determine how many new pages can be analyzed each month. They represent a limit on replacing websites with new ones.

    • Quota sets a cap on the number of unique pages that LinkStorm can manage actively across all your projects and websites.

  • Refilling vs. Constant:

    • Credits refill every month, allowing for continued expansion of your page analysis.

    • Pages quota is a constant figure that represents the total number of pages LinkStorm can actively track and manage at any given time.

  • Page Analysis:

    • Credits are consumed only when LinkStorm crawls a new page, such as when adding a new website or replacing a deleted one.

    • Pages included in the quota are those actively being tracked for link suggestions. LinkStorm will not analyze new pages beyond your quota but will continue providing linking opportunities for pages already within the quota.

4. Managing Credits and Quotas Effectively

  • Prioritize Key Sections: One way to make the most of your pages quota is by adding specific sections of your website that you want to prioritize. Instead of analyzing your entire domain, you can break your website into distinct sections, such as /resources or /products, and add these as separate “websites” in LinkStorm. This helps you prioritize the most valuable content without exceeding your quota. For example:

    • High Traffic Sections: Add sections that receive high traffic to optimize linking opportunities in the most impactful areas.

    • Key Content: Prioritize content where internal links can have a direct impact on conversions and SEO.

  • Use Credits Wisely: For agencies managing multiple client websites, it's important to prioritize which websites to analyze first. You may want to focus on optimizing one client’s website at a time to stay below your page quota.

  • Upgrade When Needed: If you find that your current quota or credits aren’t sufficient, consider upgrading your subscription to accommodate more pages or add new projects and websites.

Summary

LinkStorm’s system of credits and quotas helps efficiently manage and scale your internal link-building efforts:

  • Credits determine how many new pages LinkStorm can analyze each month.

  • Quota represents the total number of unique pages across all projects and websites that LinkStorm can actively analyze and manage.

Understanding how these two limits work will help you optimize your link-building strategies, ensuring that the most important content gets the attention it deserves while making efficient use of your monthly resources.
